Meet Mokshajyoti Chumki
Hello my loves! Welcome to Moss and Moksha!
I am Mokshajyoti Chumki (in short you can call me Moksha). I am an Engineer/Scientist turned Somatic Self Expression Coach, Reiki Master, Sound Healing Practitioner, Kirtan singer and Sacred Sound Artist, Spiritual and Embodiment mentor and Forest Therapy Guide from ANFT. Other than my holistic certifications, I hold a BS/MS in Physics and Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering. I am a woman of color and go by pronouns she/her. I was born in India and have called United States home for 13 years now. I am blessed to call Oregon-the beautiful land of Douglas fir, misty forests and countless waterfalls my home. I am a spiritual being and consider myself a citizen of mother earth.
I embarked on this path after experiencing multiple spiritual awakenings and burnout from the fast-paced corporate science and technology world, compounded by several stress-related illnesses. Through a holistic approach and somatic work focused on trauma release, I found a clean slate to begin my journey with a clear vision: to share the somatic practices and holistic services with others. Years of dedication to my own deep healing journey have profoundly shaped my practice. The modalities I work with have not only supported me but also offer genuine potential for recovery, based on my personal experiences. In addition to my certifications, my knowledge is deeply rooted in firsthand experience and ongoing personal learning, ensuring that I offer authentic and effective holistic healing practices to those I serve.
I believe each of us has the ability to heal and discover our inner light. We don’t have to live a life dictated or chosen by others. We don’t need to carry the burdens and imprints of our past. It's possible to liberate ourselves and rediscover the balanced, playful, and authentic spirit we all embodied as children but may have forgotten as we grew older. We can embrace our shadows openly, without masks, and authentically be who we are meant to be.
I offer my services to assist you in releasing what you no longer wish to carry.
What is the inspiration behind the name Moss and Moksha?
Well if you would like to know, here you go!Moss is a green non vascular plant that grows like soft carpets in shaded, moist locations and is found abundantly in Oregon/PNW forests. This endeavor was born in Oregon and since, moss covered rainforest of the PNW are simply gorgeous along with them playing a vital role in our ecosystem, I had to use it. The word ‘Moksha’ comes from eastern spiritual roots and refers to liberation or transcendental consciousness, the perfect state of being, which is the highest spiritual state that a living being can achieve.
With Moss and Moksha, my aim is to help liberate you from anything holding you back from expressing your authentic self to the world. Together, we'll embark on a journey inward, transcending barriers to access deeper states of calm and inner peace.
Background and Certs
My work is informed by a lifelong relationship with sound, embodiment, and contemplative practice.
I hold a Bachelor of Music (BMus) in Indian Raga from Bhatkhande Music Institute, Lucknow, and have trained in sound healing through a 100-hour certification with Jeela as well as crystal singing bowl certification with Brooke Lyons. I continue to deepen my sound and vocal practice through ongoing study with various teachers, and bring many years of experience in music, intuitive drumming, and multi-instrumental sound work.
Alongside my artistic training, I hold advanced degrees (BS/MS/PhD) in the science and technology field, which informs my understanding of sound, vibration, and frequency from both experiential and scientific perspectives.
My spiritual foundation has been shaped by long-term exposure to multiple contemplative lineages since childhood, including Art of Living, Vipassana, Simplified Kundalini Yoga (SKY foundation), and the Ramakrishna Mission. I am currently practicing and deepening my spiritual journey under the guidance of my spiritual mentor Swami Yatidharmananda within the Divine Life Society (Swami Sivananda Saraswati lineage).
In the realm of embodiment and trauma-informed work, I am trained in Somatic Coaching through PAUSE and am currently undergoing training in Somatic Experiencing®. I am a Reiki I, II, and Master practitioner in the Usui lineage, and hold certification as an ANFT Forest Therapy Guide.
Beyond formal training, my work is deeply shaped by years of personal inner work and ongoing self-inquiry—an evolving practice of listening, humility, and growth that continues to inform how I hold space for others.
