Voted Finalist for Best Sound Bath Experiences by Willamette Weekly

Mokshajyoti (Chumki Chakraborty) of Moss and Moksha, offers sound healing and immersive sound bath experiences guided by live voice, sacred chant, sanskrit mantras, handpan, crystal singing bowls, drums and layered acoustic instruments.

These sessions are thoughtfully facilitated and responsive to the space—creating rich, multi-sensory soundscapes that support nervous system settling, embodied presence, emotional ease, and deep rest. Sound becomes not just something to listen to, but a space the body can gently rest inside. Her sound sessions unfold as sacred journeys. Through layered frequencies, textured soundscapes, and live voice, the body is carried beyond the thinking mind into subtle realms of awareness—where sound opens a doorway into remembrance, stillness, and gentle transcendence.

What is Sound Healing

Sound healing is a holistic, body-based practice that uses sound vibrations and frequencies from instruments such as Himalayan bowls, crystal singing bowls, drums, gongs, chimes, and the human voice to support well-being, stress reduction, and nervous system regulation. In sound healing and sound bath sessions, sound waves move through the body via the auditory system, tissues, and sensory pathways. These vibrations can influence brainwave states, support energetic balance, and invite the body into deep meditative and restorative states. As the nervous system settles, mental overactivity may quiet, held tension can soften, and emotional regulation is gently supported. Rather than effort or performance, sound healing invites receiving—allowing the body to respond naturally to sound and vibration in its own time.

A Trauma-Informed, Voice-Centered Approach

Mokshajyoti’s sound bath and sound healing work is grounded in:

  • Live voice, chanting, sanskrit mantras, and gentle vocal toning

  • Crystal singing bowls, Himalayan singing bowls

  • Handpan, harmonium, chimes, drums and percussions and occasional gongs

  • Mantra and rāga-inspired melodic forms

  • Intentional multi-layered soundscapes

Sessions are trauma-informed, consent-based, and gently paced, honoring the nervous system’s need for safety and regulation. Each experience is responsive to the people and space present.

Sound is used not to “fix,” but to support presence, connection, and integration.

  • "Mokshajyoti (Chumki) came to my place of work, a mental health non-profit, and performed a sound bath for us in our space. We had previously commissioned her to do one in a private space as well. The experience both times was really wonderful, and I think for many of the participants, transcendent. She is a masterful musician, creating amazing percussive soundscapes with a wide variety of instruments, including her voice, which truly is extraordinary. All of this had the effect of bringing us quickly into a more emotional/sacred/spiritual state which felt safe to all the participants. Some participants experienced a deep emotional response throughout the course of the sound bath and Mokshajyoti was adept at holding that space in a way that felt supportive, comforting and okay with whatever was arising. Overall, these have been some really wonderful experiences and couldn't recommend Mokshajyoti any more highly.."

  • "I’ve had the pleasure of attending a couple of Chumki’s sound journeys and they’ve all been deeply restorative. Whether she’s guiding a smaller, more intimate group or a full house (I’ve experienced both!) I always walk away feeling so much lighter & more at peace than when I arrived. Her voice is angelic and moves me to tears. Which I take as an absolute blessing. If you can attend a sound journey with Chumki, sign up & go. Your entire being will thank you for it. ✨✨."
